CX-30 or CX-5 for your stroller?
Compare a 2023 CX-30 and 2022 CX-5 at Arrow Motors with the same family packing test.
A smaller crossover may handle your everyday load perfectly well. The useful comparison is the same stroller, the same bags and the same passenger arrangement in both cars—not two empty trunks photographed from different angles.

The short answer
Mazda’s Canadian documents list 572 L behind the rear seats for the 2023 CX-30, measured to the ceiling, and 871 L behind the rear seats for the 2022 CX-5. Use those figures as background. The way your stroller clears the hatch and shares space with bags is the deciding test.[1][2]
Same load, two cars
| What matters | 2023 Mazda CX-30 | 2022 Mazda CX-5 |
|---|---|---|
| Published rear cargo volume[1][2] | 572 L, measured to ceiling | 871 L behind the rear seats |
| Stroller test | Try your normal fold with rear seats upright. | Repeat the identical fold and seating arrangement. |
| Space remaining | Add the everyday bag and note retrieval order. | Add the same bag and note retrieval order. |
| Decision note | Does the smaller package meet your real load? | Does any extra usable room matter to your weekly routine? |
Manufacturer volumes use their stated measurement definitions. They do not establish a standardized stroller-fit advantage, and no physical comparison was performed for this guide.
Make it a fair comparison
Pick one load before looking at either vehicle. Keep passenger seats in normal positions and use the same stroller fold. If one attempt needs the wheels removed, note that extra step instead of silently changing the test.
Try lifting the stroller in and out as well as fitting it inside. The most useful arrangement is one you would be happy to repeat during an ordinary grocery stop.
Look beyond the litre figure
A cargo volume describes space; it does not describe your stroller’s folded shape. Check the opening, wheel arches, floor and hatch clearance on each car.
You may find both vehicles work for your equipment. In that case, compare the actual passenger comfort, condition, equipment and written vehicle quote rather than choosing only by the larger cargo number.
